Program & Team Spotlight: Level Up
This month’s program spotlight features Level Up, which recently became a continually-funded program by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). The program can serve up to 18 individuals at any given time at the 18 apartment units located throughout Fulton and DeKalb counties. Daryl Hogan, Senior Care Coordinator, shares more information and updates about the program.
What is the Level Up program and what are its goals?
Level Up is a 12-month program designed for people who have completed a residential treatment program, are actively participating in an aftercare program, have at least one year of sobriety, have a full-time job, and have an open savings account. Participants can come internally from CaringWorks—for example if they were a Hope House resident—or they can come from another provider’s residential treatment program. When participants enter the program, they receive case management, certified addiction counseling, and mentorship to help them succeed in the steps needed to find a job that that will enable them to be financially independent, and in creating a financial plan and setting goals toward their career and educational aspirations.
What happens once participants complete the program?
Once they finish the yearlong program, the goal is for participants to have created the income flow to be able to successfully find their own apartment, or take over the lease of the apartment they moved into at the beginning of the 12 months. As we do with other clients who transition out of CaringWorks, we offer aftercare services to help them continue to reach their goals and stay connected with the recovery community.
What are some upcoming initiatives of the program?
We are working to develop opportunities for clients in the program to get together for monthly group meetings where they can socialize, talk about challenges, and share successes that can inspire and motivate their peers.
Are there any client successes that you want to share to demonstrate the impact of this program?
We recently had a client, Demetres B., complete the program and take over his lease. It was his first-ever lease. You can read more about that success story HERE.
